Make Your Next Decision With a Coin Flip (Here’s Why)

Our new Life and Death coin from Shire Post Mint is perfect for quick decision-making. This coin brings back the ancient cleromantic process known as casting lots, a form of divination using sticks, stones, bones, beans, coins, dice, or other items to reveal divine guidance.

Having been raised in the church, I've always been fascinated by casting lots in the Bible. The practice was generally seen as a way to let God make decisions when human wisdom wasn't sufficient.

Proverbs 18:18 says: "To cast lots puts an end to disputes and decides between powerful contenders." In Acts 1:23-26, the apostles cast lots to choose Matthias as the replacement for Judas Iscariot.

The process of casting lots is simple. Place two items (designated "Yes" and "No") into a container, mix them, and ask for divine guidance on your question. You then reach in and select one item, which provides your answer. A coin simplifies this process - you just have to flip it.

While I don't recommend making important life decisions based on a coin flip, this type of reading can offer additional insights and help clarify situations. Of course, as with all readings, the final decision remains your responsibility.

May your lots fall in pleasant places.
