We are excited to release our restoration of the original J. B. Rhine ESP decks. Dr. J. B. Rhine and his associates designed these in 1937 at the Parapsychology Laboratory of Duke University.
We’ve completely redrawn the cards to improve the symmetry and clarity of the back design and symbols. Each deck contains 25 cards which include five sets of the circle, plus, wavy lines, square, and star.
The set contains two decks of cards: a blue-backed, plain deck with all the symbols blue and a brown-backed, colored deck with symbols of different colors.
We've included the following text on the back of the box, which was originally on the instruction cards that came with the deck.
"For Testing Extra-Sensory Perception. These cards have been designed at the Parapsychology Laboratory of Duke University, Durham, N. C., by Dr. J. B. Rhine and his associates for the purpose of testing the until recently unrecognized powers of the mind commonly called hunches, intuitions, and mind-reading. The term extra-sensory perception covers all these, and is abbreviated to ESP. Scientists at Duke and at many other universities have shown that many if not all normal persons have ESP ability, if they are tested under the right conditions. Those who show unusual ability in these tests can be of help to science."
