Dr. Yoav Ben-Dov

Dr. Yoav Ben-Dov (1957–2016) was a physicist, philosopher, and renowned tarot scholar. Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, he spent part of his childhood in Ethiopia. He studied physics and the philosophy of science at Tel Aviv University and earned his doctorate in the philosophy of quantum mechanics from Paris-13 University. Over the course of 18 years, he taught at Tel Aviv University and other academic institutions.

In 1981, he authored the first tarot book in Hebrew. During the mid-1980s, he studied tarot and psychomagic in Paris with Alejandro Jodorowsky. His work culminated in the restoration and publication of the CBD Tarot de Marseille (2008–2010), followed by his influential book Tarot: The Open Reading in 2013. His contributions continue to shape modern tarot practice around the world.
