Michael Goepferd

Michael Goepferd (1961-1996) was a German graphic artist who studied at Lichtenfels Art School before moving to San Francisco in 1986. He traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, drawing inspiration from the diverse cultures and traditions of these regions.

Initially a painter, Goepferd became known for his expressive linocut work influenced by Dürer, German Expressionism, and Eastern philosophy. His most notable creation, the Light and Shadow Tarot, combines traditional and newly formulated symbols from Celtic, Native American, East Indian, African, and European traditions in striking black and white imagery.

Brian Williams

Brian Williams created the Renaissance Tarot, the PoMo Tarot, and Angel Journey(with Terry Lynn Taylor and Mary Beth Crain).
