Seasons Zine | Miscarriage Grief Rituals and Healing
1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Chances are you or someone you know has had one (or multiple). Christine Blystone suffered three miscarriages this past year and a half.
Each time, she and her husband were utterly flattened by grief. The grief of the miscarriage itself. The grief of the unavoidable secondary losses that come with all grieving. And for Christine, the grief of a body and heart that had a hard time healing from these experiences.
Christine never thought about it before, but it’s very human to need grief acknowledged and reflected by others—especially those closest.
The truth is when we don’t talk about grief, it’s harder for all of us to heal. And when we don’t accept grief, it’s harder to move on. And it’s especially hard in a society where our grief can be uncomfortable or even unwelcome to others—especially as time goes on.
Where it’s our default to offer fixing or minimizing when we really just need people to sit with us and witness what we’re going through and say, “Shit. I know this whole thing is so hard. I’ve been thinking of you and sending you so much love.”
So, if you’re going through loss and grief and you feel:
- Alone and misunderstood.
- Like there’s no room for you or what you’re going through in some of your relationships.
- Like you need someone to lovingly acknowledge your experience without trying to fix, avoid, or minimize anything.
Then this chapbook is for you.
This is Christine’s humble offering of a warm, witnessing hug that includes:
- The plant wisdom you know and love from some of my Plant Ally Talisman cards
- Three pieces of experimental memoir around her own grief and loss
- Potent poetry to help you feel held and seen during your seasons of grief
- A beautiful and healing guided ceremony
- Two blessings to help you on your journey
- Gorgeous botanical cyanotype art
- Reminders throughout that you are love, and you deserve love, always.
This little book makes a heartfelt addition to any miscarriage care package. ❤️
