Additional Information

Restoration Process

The restoration consisted of meticulously redrawing and recoloring the images. We also clarified many of the details to create consistency. Our goal was not to create an exact reproduction, but an elegant and refined deck that inspires the imagination of the modern reader.

Comparisons to Tarot de Marseille Decks

The F. F. Solesio tarot closely resembles the Tarot de Marseille. However, the card titles are written in Italian, and some of the cards have been renamed. Additionally, the traditional black outlines that make up the illustrations are instead blue.

If you are familiar with the Nicolas Conver or Jean Dodal tarot, you will notice that some of the images in the F. F. Solesio tarot are reversed. For example, in The Hermit, the figure looks to the right. In The Tower, the smoke bellows out from the left side of the tower.

Also, compared to the Tarot de Marseille, many small details have been added. For example, in The Chariot, the charioteer holds the horses’ reins in his hands. In The Hermit, the rays of light radiate from the lantern.

Reading the F. F. Solesio cards will allow you to deepen your knowledge and cultivate a profound understanding of historic tarot decks and the wisdom they contain.

I bought this deck because the labels are in Italian, and I want to compare the images with the decks in my library.

I love the pocket size, and I enjoy the way the Solesio Trumps are subtly different from the Noblet Trumps. Add to that a speedy delivery and an excellent product - thanks!

I love these pocket sized cards. These days I don’t want to handle big or bulky cards.

Cool cards. The only other Artisan deck I have to compare them to is the 'free' Noblet trumps, which I really like. While the two decks, side by side, are virtually the same height, the Solesio cards feel thinner and are much more bendy - I don't think you'd want a full-sized deck with cards this flexible, whereas the Noblet stock would be fine. But this is more an observation than a complaint - the Solesio is a very nice little deck, well designed and produced, with a nice linen finish.
