Zaara created this deck out of her delight in experiencing the freedom and joy of learning to work with the tarot anew by loosening the Rider-Waite-Smith structure and reading with a pip deck. She hand-painted each card with gouache paint.

Fortune tellers and cunning folk have been reading with Marseille and playing card decks for centuries. Instead of esoteric intellectual prowess, these readers have relied on their common sense, their understanding of human nature, and key tarot wisdom passed down from generation to generation via word of mouth.
