Klára Sedlo created a series of paintings called "Tarot Cards", drawing inspiration from historic tarot cards from 17th-century Italy and France. The series blends simple lines and bold color to reference the aesthetics of the time, but each painting represents a modern, original interpretation. She turned these paintings into the Oilpainting Tarot.

Instead of the traditional 22 cards of the Major Arcana, you will find 28 cards in the deck: some archetypes remain (Death, Wheel of Fortune, Gentleness), others are modified or completely new (Hen, Architect, Shoe Quarrel). These reflect contemporary themes and bring a fresh perspective to the classic tarot. The result is a unique blend of tradition and new perspectives that bring the mystique and symbolism of the tarot to life.

The cards facilitate a playful exploration of associations and meanings. The colorful figures, the number of symbols, and the composition of the individual scenes directly encourage you to open the door to your intuition.

Each deck is signed and numbered by Klára Sedlo. This edition is limited to only 250 decks.

Klára Sedlo

Klara graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2012. She is known for paintings of bizarre stories, strange objects, and toys meshed with horror-like atmospheres, incorporating elements of witchcraft, folk magic, and spirituality.

In 2024, she created tarot-inspired oil paintings that became the Oilpainting Tarot deck. Inspired by the Tarot de Marseille, Budapest Tarot, and Bologna Tarot, Klara brought simple colors and classical figures into oil paintings. Since she works with Tarot herself, she modified the deck by adding and changing some cards, creating a modern, playful Tarot that still resembles 15th-century cards.

As a synesthete, Klara transforms all sensory perceptions into visions: "My brain has been functioning all my life on the verge of a bizarre visual explosion. The analytical part then corrects this existential essence and translates it into paintings."
