Finnish mythology, the basis for this tarot, is rooted in nature. Mythologia Fennica Tarot includes the traditional 78 cards, but is divided into the four classical elements of nature (fire, water, air, and earth) instead of suits. Featuring a range of beings, deities, nature spirits, and more, it draws strongly on the traditional wisdom of Finnish folklore. So each card tells a new story yet remains true to the classic Rider-Waite-Smith tarot.

And just as with classic tarot, this deck is about self-knowledge and spiritual growth. Mythological events match contemporary life on a symbolic level and can be used for problem-solving. The stories behind each card are linked to each other, and the cards interact with each other. The many layers will help you deepen your tarot practice.

Susanna Elina Salo

Susanna Elina Salo was born and raised in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. In her work, she brings Finnish and Karelian old mythology and folklore into an easily accessible form. Influenced by folklore and mythological creatures, the wisdom of her cards springs from her Finnish roots. Susanna's goal is always to find something behind the myth that anyone can relate to in their own life, so she brings the characters, events, and creatures of mythology into modern times.

A self-taught artist and painter, Susanna illustrated most of the cards herself. She loves learning new techniques as a painter and trying new ideas. As an illustrator, she wants to give mythological creatures, characters, and events visual form. In her free time, Susanna likes to be in nature, explore the old holy places of Finnish nature, pick mushrooms and berries, and take care of her vegetable garden. Susanna loves growing different herbs and vegetables and gardening is her way to relax. A committed forager, she often cooks with nature's bounty. Susanna also has a passion for medicinal herbs.
