Severino Baraldi

Severino Baraldi (1930–2023) was a renowned Italian illustrator, celebrated for his vast work spanning over 220 books and over 8,000 illustrations. Born in Sermide and later based in Milan, he began drawing as a child and studied art while working in advertising. His career included major projects such as illustrating the Bible, educational materials, and historical scenes for publications like Famiglia Cristiana, Il Giornalino, and the British magazine Look & Learn.

Baraldi collaborated with figures like Piero Angela and contributed to encyclopedias, children’s fiction, and tarot decks—including The Prophetic Tarot of the Bible. His detailed and expressive style earned him numerous honors, including the Shogakukan Prize in Tokyo and the ANAFI lifetime achievement award.
