This deck, created by celebrated Italian illustrator Gaudenzi and scholar of erotic culture Spadanuda, bravely plumbs the earthy world of Boccaccio's Decameron. Like other erotic decks, Gaudenzi and Spadanuda amplify the sexual imagination. Unlike other erotic decks, in the Decameron Tarot all sorts of people enjoy the carnal adventure. Ideals of age and beauty vary, and this deck celebrates that variety with great wit and a playful style.

Giacinto Gaudenzi

Born in Cattolica in 1945, Giacinto Gaudenzi is an artist of national and international significance. He first gained recognition from the general public and critics for illustrating Enzo Biagi's History of Italy in Comics, a series of volumes published by Mondadori in the late 1970s that used comics to tell the story of Italy’s history. The project, which featured contributions from other prominent cartoonists such as Milo Manara and Hugo Pratt, became a household fixture in Italy and was reprinted in various editions and formats.

In addition to being an illustrator, Gaudenzi is a skilled draftsman, engraver, and animator. He studied at the National Art Institute of Urbino in the 1960s and began his career working on short films and animated advertisements. He entered the world of comics in 1975. In 1983, he published Stories of Another Evo in the magazine Sgt. Kirk, and in 1989, he completed a major cycle with The Etheric Mutant, published by Lo Scarabeo. Gaudenzi’s works—ranging from fantasy to romance, as well as educational and school-focused material—have been published by prestigious houses in Italy and around the world.
