When we restore historic tarot decks, we print review decks to check our linework and colors. We also send these out to be reviewed by people who are knowledgeable about tarot history. This allows us to further refine the details to create the best restoration possible.
In the video above, Dustin shares feedback on our deck and explains the historical significance of the colors found within the images. His knowledge was instrumental in helping us update the cards to be more historically accurate.
We also made countless updates to our Jean Noblet deck based on our own observations and feedback from other reviewers. We appreciate everyone’s help in making this deck a reality. Click here to hang out with us in our chat room.
Here are the most notable updates that you may find interesting.
- We lightened the color of the salmon/orange and dark blue across all of the cards. We feel like these colors were too warm and bright on the review decks.
- We replaced the green in the cups with light blue on the Two of Cups, Three of Cups, Four of Cups, and Ten of Cups.
- The Six of Swords has been updated with a similar flower to the one on the Four of Swords.
- We made the Emperor and The Hanged Man closer to the originals by mismatching their stockings.
- In the Lover, we made the card closer to the original by removing the solid blue from behind cupid and adding the yellow strip above him.
- In the Chariot, we changed the colors of the pillars and colored the horses’ manes to match the horses in the court cards.
- We changed the colors of the dresses for the Popess and Justice to create more consistency.
- We made the Hermit closer to the original by adding yellow to his cloak which shows a reflection of the light from the lantern.
- In the Moon, we made the card closer to the original by adding yellow to the dogs ears, the water, and on the crayfish.
- In the Star, we made it so she pours the water in front of her right foot.
- In the Sun, we made the card closer to the original by adding yellow circle around the entire sun.
- In Judgement, we made the card closer to the original by adding red above the angel’s head.
- In the World, we made the card closer to the original by making the top halos yellow and the bottom ones red.
- We added red back to the characters wings on Temperance, Judgement, and The World.
We hope that you appreciate these updates and find that they are in line with the original Jean Noblet deck.
The updates have been sent to the printer, and we are now waiting to receive the decks. We hope to have them in stock sometime in January.
