Now that 2021 has come to an end, we want to recap the year and share our plans for the future of Artisan Tarot. Despite the pandemic, we had our best year yet. We had over 13,000 unique visitors to our website and had over 42,000 page views. This resulted in over 1,000 orders from people all over the world.
Throughout the year, we released two decks and a variety of tarot related products. We hosted live workshops and created a community in our Discord chat room. We also found an incredible group of reviewers who have given us feedback on our decks. We are thankful for their help and generosity.
Our Growth
Looking back to January, we had just received our shipments of our Nicolas Conver Majors Only decks from our campaign on Indiegogo. This early success allowed us to start figuring out distribution and to create new products such as Krisztin’s linocut print of Le Bateleur. This early experimentation allowed us to build a solid foundation for our business.
Due to the popularity of our first decks, we decided to work full time on Artisan Tarot. So, we laid out a timeline to finish our restoration of the Nicolas Conver Tarot and to continue restoring other historic decks. Krisztin immediately began searching and working on the decks that she wanted to restore.
In February, we wanted to share our love for the Nicolas Conver deck, so we produced 500 pocket size decks and gave them away for free! This was a huge success as they were completely gone in only two months. We still love seeing people tag us on Instagram with readings from these decks.
In August, we ran a Kickstarter campaign to fund the release of our Nicolas Conver Tarot deck. We immediately became a Kickstarter Project We Love and ended up being 308% funded. This allowed us to print the decks, produce cotton cloths, and work with Erik to create Bolivian Rosewood boxes. We received most of the products in early November and began fulfilling orders. In November, we ran another Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to print our Jean Noblet Tarot deck. This also became a Kickstarter Project We Love and was 190% funded. This allowed us to print the decks, produce lapel pins, create socks, and velvet pouches. We are now waiting for the decks to be delivered in January and look forward to the other products arriving in February and March.
Due to the increase of sales through Kickstarter and our website, we invited David Nielsen to join our team. He is now in charge of managing our inventory and shipping out products. So, if you’ve ordered from us in the past few months, you’ve probably seen his handwriting on our thank you notes. He has been a huge help in keeping our operations running smoothly.
What’s Next
Last year was only the beginning for Artisan Tarot. Starting this month, we will release a new deck restoration about every other month. These restorations include the Jean Dodal Tarot, the Jacques Vieville Tarot, the Jacob Jerger Tarot, and the Tarot de Paris.
We will also host live workshops where you can learn about our restoration process and how to read with our decks. We also have plans to create educational content, but we can’t tell you anything else just yet. Just know that we are very excited about what’s coming up.
On Sunday, February 6th, 2022, William will speak at the The Esotoracle Live conference. He will talk about how to create empowering stories with the cards. There are over 12 presentations and registration is only £35.00. Click here to learn more.
In Conclusion
We owe our success to our wonderful community of supportive tarot enthusiasts. We couldn’t have done any of this without you. We know there are a lot tarot products on the market, so we are very thankful for your business. We will continue to work hard to create the finest tarot decks and give you exceptional service.
Happy holidays from our family to yours. May the new year be filled with many fantastic readings!
