We recently published the Tarot des Ambiguïtés which is a re-imagination of the Tarot de Marseille, faithful to its style and inspired by its symbolism. Each card was hand-drawn by Alejandro R Rozan.
The process of creating the images included a collaboration between Alejandro and Steven Bright. Alejandro sent uncompleted images to Steven to discuss possible meanings. Then Alejandro made alterations to his drawings based on Steven’s feedback.
Since Steven was an integral part of creating the Tarot des Ambiguïtés, we thought you’d be interested in seeing how he reads the cards. So, here is a general reading of a three card spread which includes The Hanged Man, The World, and The Sun.
Here is how Steven interprets this spread:
“The Hanged Man shows a person hanging, restricted, or simply inactive. This person is suspended by either choice or circumstance.
The World card depicts movement. This character could very well be the same person as in the first card, now released and heading towards a new situation. You will discover where this central figure is going in the final card.
The Sun represents the last segment of this story. You can see the Sun looking over two people embracing. The figure from the first two cards is no longer alone.
You might interpret this three card spread as a person freeing himself from solitude and finding companionship. The storyline suggests that taking action to move forward leads to a successful conclusion.
For some, this spread may suggest that you have been working too hard or have been overwhelmed with responsibility. This is the time to reconnect with others. Similarly, a timeout - whether through ill-health or choice - may be coming to an end and you could benefit from time with friends.
For others, these cards may suggest finding people who are likeminded or kindred spirits. One particular person could encourage you to come out of hiding to seek those who you feel aligned with. In short, you may be inspired to find your tribe or deal with your feelings of loneliness by reaching out to other people.”
We hope you found this reading from Steven Bright insightful. If you are interested in learning how to read with this deck, join Steven’s upcoming lecture on Saturday, February 4th. If you are unable to join us live, you can stream the replay on our website.
We will see you in two weeks!
