I’m excited to share that we now have the English translation of Paul Marteau’s Tarot de Marseille available in our store.
Paul Marteau (1885-1966) was a director at Grimaud, and in 1930 he created a tarot deck called the Ancien Tarot de Marseille. This publication helped revive the popularity of the Tarot de Marseille. In 1949, he published his book which contains his thoughts on the tarot and his interpretations of the 78 cards.
In 2021, Marius Høgnesen translated the original French text into English. And after reading the book, I knew we had to carry it. So, I contacted Marius and obtained a number of copies to share with you.
The book is 360 pages and is in full color. It’s filled with fantastic ideas that will give you a fresh perspective on the Tarot de Marseille. But, don’t take my word for it, see what Kasia from Tarot Map thinks of the book in the above video. The review starts at 7:25 after she reviews our Nicolas Conver deck.
I know this book will quickly become one of your go-to resources for interpretations. I highly recommend picking it up.
In our next post, I’ll share a conversation with Marius about his interest in the tarot and why he undertook the monumental task of translating this book.
