An Homage to the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot Deck

Today, we want to delve into the creation process behind Alejandro R Rozan’s new Rider-Marseille Tarot Deck and explore the origins of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck.

The Rider-Marseille Tarot Deck features imagery from the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot, designed by Pamela Colman Smith and Arthur Edward Waite, combined with the historical influences from the 17th-century Tarot de Marseille. To create the images, Alejandro hand-drew and digitally colored each card to emulate woodblock printing and stencil coloring techniques.

As an homage to the creators of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, Alejandro designed two special cards featuring portraits of Pamela Colman Smith and Arthur Edward Waite. These cards are included in every deck!
